Marcus Titus nabs Men’s 100m breast-stroke crown - Southwest Classic 2011
Marcus Titus and Clark Burckle clinched the golden crowns in the Men’s 100m breast-stroke and 200m breast-stroke finals at the 2011 Southwest Classic meet in Tucson, Arizona, on June 13, 2011.
In the Men’s 100m breast-stroke event, Marcus Titus of Tucson Ford took home the gold medal with a sterling time of 1 minute and 02.58 seconds. The victory also elevated him to the top spot in the world rankings.
After the conclusion of the 100m breast-stroke meet, Tucson Ford’s swimmer, Titus, claimed that he came out in the race with a confident frame of mind, keeping only the win as his primary target.
As the race began, Titus came out and edged his way against his rivals with increased hostility and stamina, in the pool. Additionally, he kept his breaths for the last circle that aided him immensely to win the event, with a convincing margin.
The Men’s 200m breast-stroke title was nabbed by Clark Burckle with a winning time of 2 minutes and 16.89 seconds. The swimmer was really excited with his spotless performance in the following meet.
In the earlier categories, Annie Chandler of Tucson Ford snagged the Women’s 100m breast-stroke title against Amanda Beard, with a distinctive time of 1 minute and 09.98 seconds. On the other hand, Beard claimed the golden crown in the Women’s 200m breast-stroke
final with a fastest time of 2 minutes and 32.92 seconds. Christine Magnuson of Tucson Ford snatched the Women’s 100m butterfly crown over Seebohm, with an intriguing time of 59.55 seconds.
Charlotte of Santa Clara won the Women’s 200m butterfly title with a fastest time of 2 minutes and 16.74 seconds, while Brittany Elmslie of Australia snared the Women’s 200m freestyle crown with a sterling time of 2 minutes and 03.31 seconds. Ingram won
the Women’s 200m back-stroke event in a fantastic time of 2 minutes and 13.23 seconds.
Kishida of Tucson Ford won the Men’s 100m butterfly crown with a time of 54.27 seconds, while Burnett snared the Men’s 200m butterfly title in a time of 2 minutes and 02.24 seconds.
