Marcus Tregoning hopeful about Askar Tau’s performance in the Betfair Henry II Stakes
Trainer Marcus Tregoning looks very pleased with the form of his charge, Askar Tau, and hopes that he will be able to excel in the Betfair Henry II Stakes at Sandown on 31st May, 2012, where he will compete
after a long lay-off.
The son of Montjeu, out of mare Autriche, previously competed in the Group 1 Gold Cup (British Champions' Series) on 16th June, 2011, and finished fifth under rider, George Baker.
The seven-year-old gelding will be mounted by George Baker again with the hope of delivering a solid performance.
Marcus Tregoning told the press that:
"He's in very good form, I'm very happy with him and he's got his ground. It's quite a hot race, but he'll be fit and well. He should run a good race. George Baker gets on with him so well and I'm delighted he's riding him."
The trainer complimented the experienced jockey on his tactics and said:
"He seems to find the key to horses that have got quirks and Askar Tau certainly has. I've had a good run with his horse and he'll be ready to do his best."
The Nurlan Bizakov owned runner has scored eight times in his career, but might bring out his latent potential in this race.
Another runner, who made a comeback after a lengthy lay-off is Times Up, who is trained by John Dunlop.

The six-year-old gelding participated in the Group 2 Sportingbet Yorkshire Cup (British Champions Series) at York on 18th May, 2012, and finished in fourth place.
The bay gelding previously downed a victory in the Jockey Club Rose Bowl at Newmarket on 22nd September, 2011, where he was ridden by jockey, Eddie Ahern and defeated, Chiberta King, by
1 ½ lengths.
Dunlop was immensely pleased with his performance at York as his racing secretary, Marcus Osgood, confirmed this.
Godolphin’s, Ley Hunter, will be mounted by jockey, Mickael Barzalona and will break from post 7.
Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor commented that his runner is doing well and has been performing up to the mark as well, he is prepared to compete in this race.
