Somerset skipper, Marcus Trescothick, has said he is feeling confident after returning to the field following a three-month lay off due to injury.
The 36-year-old former England opener underwent a surgery in April this year to repair tendon damage in his right ankle. He sustained the injury while playing a County Championship match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826, at Trent Bridge.
Trescothick played a Clydesdale Bank 40 match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 at Taunton on July 22, which was his comeback game. He managed to score 15 runs in the match which his team won by eight wickets.
"I feel really confident," Trescothick told BBC Somerset. "It's nice to be back out there. It's been a long time sat on the sidelines just watching."
"When I came off at half-time I was a little bit tired. It was a really tough test for the ankle and it got a little bit stiff."
"It's now a case of doing more and more. The more I do on it, the better and stronger it will get."
Although Trescothick’s return from injury was the much talked about topic before the start of Sunday's match, it was his opening partner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206 who stole the show with breathtaking hitting.
After cracking 152 in his team’s one-wicket victory over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warwickshire-c862, Kieswetter again flourished with the bat and scored his second successive century, which helped his side move up from the bottom off the CB40 table.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 on June 24, at their home ground Taunton, and Trescothick says the result over the weekend has renewed the side's confidence.
"It was a great win this week and such a vital time to pick up a great result," said Trescothick.
The left-hander played 76 Tests and 123 One Day Internationals for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in a career spanning over 6 years.
Keynsham born Trescothick made his Test debut in 2000 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at Old Trafford and went on to score 5825 runs at an average of 43.79 with the help of 14 hundreds and 29 fifties.  Interestingly, the first four of his hundreds came in lost matches.
Trescothick’s ODI record is not less impressive, he scored 4335 one-day runs at an average of 37.37, that included 12 hundreds.
Unfortunately, stress-related illness forced Trescothick to call an early end to his international career back in 2006.
