Mardi Gras birthday for a 12 year old?

I was thinking of a Mardi Gras theme.

Im gonna be turning 13

Dont you dare say that were gonna be flashing boys & drinking.

Beads.  Jester Hats.  Jazz Music.  Drama Masks.  Purple and Gold should be the theme colors.

Plastic "Gold Dubloons" on the tables...have plastic champagne glasses for soda and other drinks.

Streamers, etc.

Decorate with purple, gold, and green.  Try a party supply store or www.orientaltradingcompany.com  Just search Mardi Gras on their site.  

You could have masks or have everyone make and decorate their own masks.  You could also find out if a bakery will make a king cake for you.  It's traditionally a cinnamon roll-like cake with sugar glaze frosting and sprinkkled with purple, yellow, and green sugar.  Or you could get a regular birtday cake decorated with a Mardi Gras theme and colors.  Just make sure you have the baby or coin in it to crown the king of Mardi Gras.

Have people dress up in crazy costumes like they do for Mardi Gras.  Award prizes for best costumes, funniest, etc.  You could toss out beads if you're sure no one's going to try to flash, or you could toss out candy and gold coins or trinkets.

Have lots of fun with it.
