Mardy Fish pulls out of 2013 Australian Open – Tennis News 
Ranked 27th in the South African ATP World Tour Rankings, Mardy Fish, will not be contesting for the Australian Open to be held in the hard courts of Melbourne in January 2013.
The American contestant suffered from a critical heart problem before contesting for the Davis Cup in February 2012. His condition deteriorated ever since then resultantly he displayed an average performance, fearing death.
The American senior claims to be on a road of recovery, as he underwent through a problem called arrhythmia. He plans to return to courts of competitive tennis and become a part of the ATP Tour in February 2013.
John Tobias, his agent told the media in an interview, “The good news is that Mardy's health is improving and he is back on the court slowing getting back into his regular workouts.”
He started his 2012 season, at a decent pace as he contested until the final of the AAMI Classic tournament held at the hard courts of Kooyong. He received a three set shocker at the hand of the Alejandro Falla, in the second round of the Australian Open.
The right-hander, Mardy made it to the quarter-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open played at the hard courts of Miami. At Wimbledon Championships, he pocketed away his four set loss at the hands of the Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The American professional contested for the US Open held in the courts of New York. The right-hander manifested an upright hold on the game plan and put up a graceful fight against Japanese Go Soeda and the Russian challenger, Nikolay Davydenko. In the third
round, he gave a shocker to the French opponent, Gilles Simon in a four set match. The player encountered the most unfortunate incidence in the fourth round and was forced to retire from the match against the Swiss world number two, Roger Federer.
The 31-year-old, Mardy, did not contest in most of the matches in 2012 he had a very successful tennis campaign in the start of the season as he rested on the world number eight spot. At the end of the season, his rankings dropped down considerably to the
world number 27. Currently, he is the third American player following the lead of John Isner and Sam Querrey.
