Former Brescia star ruing missed chances in draw against Novara and committed to Walter Mazzarri’s tactical plans
Napoli midfielder, Marek Hamsik, is confident that his side can climb up the league table before Christmas.
Hamsik is targeting wins against A.S Roma and Genoa in the club’s next two games respectively. The Slovakian has urged his teammates to improve their league form in order to compete for the Scudetto.
The Azzurri have qualified for the last 16 round of the UEFA Champions League and their European participation has taken a toll on their domestic performances. Walter Mazzarri’s side have drawn last four of their five league games
and as a result they have fallen down to the 5th spot in the league table.
Hamsik wrote on his official website, “We want six points against Roma and Genoa to close on the top of the table.”
The Partenopei side drift the 3rd placed, A.C Milan by seven points and Hamsik has urged his team to close the gap to hold a chance of qualifying for Europe next season too. The former Brescia star is disappointed with
a stalemate against Novara last weekend and insisted that his team desperately wanted a win. The attacking midfielder is ruing the missed chances against Attilio Tesser’s men and believes that it cost them the points.
“We wanted to beat Novara at all costs, but at the end of the day were only able to get a draw, as we couldn’t finish off our chances. There were so many scoring opportunities and we were unable to finish them off.”
The Slovakian international played in an unusual role against Novara but he is comfortable to play in any position his managers wants him in. The 24-year-old insisted that he plays for the sake of team and wants to take http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003
to new heights.
“It’s absolutely not a problem for me to play in that role. I always think of the team first and foremost. I’ll play wherever the Coach wants me to.” added the inspirational midfielder
The Azzurri will face A.S http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday, December 18, 2011.
