The Partenopei midfielder believes that while the Coppa Italia victory was a fantastic moment, the time has come for the Azzurri to reach out for the league crown.
After completing the last campaign with Coppa Italia glory, Marek Hamsik has urged his team to fix their eyes on the Scudetto in the next season.
The Slovakian international scored in the final of the Italian championship to beat the then-undefeated Juventus to capture the piece of silverware. However, the attacking midfielder believes that instead of sitting on their laurels, the Partenopei must
look to push themselves higher in the upcoming season.
The Coppa Italia was the first trophy for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 in 23 years, and Hamsik recognizes what a historic moment it was for the Azzurri.
The Partenopei aggressor insisted that the Coppa Italia is a befitting present to thank the fans for the support, which they have extended throughout the campaign.
The Slovakian international was all praise for President Aurelio De Laurentiis, and acknowledged his efforts to bring quality players to the outfit that has allowed them to continue performing at the top level.
The Partenopei midfielder expressed his belief that the time has come for Napoli to make the success of this season into a stepping stone for their next campaign, and hopes that the Azzurri will be able to challenge the top teams of Serie A next year.
The 24-yaer-old wrote on his official website:
“Winning the Coppa was a fantastic moment. It was a moment for the history of the club, because it was the first after 23 years. I’m glad we got the trophy, it was worth the wait. It’s given great satisfaction for our fans who have supported us throughout
the season. I hope we can [challenge for the title next year]. President [Aurelio] De Laurentiis is great. In recent years he has invested heavily to bring in great players who have created this squad.”
Marek Hamsik has already played five seasons for Napoli, and has already pledged his allegiance to the Partenopei for the rest of his playing career.
The Slovakian scored nine goals and another nine assists in the 37 appearances for the Azzurri in the 2011-12 campaign.
