Margarita Louis-Dreyfus mounts extra pressure on Olympique de Marseille – Ligue 1 news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 owner Margarita Louis-Dreyfus visited Athens to meet Les Phoceens ahead of their UEFA Champions League opener against Olympiacos. The owner took the opportunity to put some pressure on the Rhone club saying they had “no choice but
to win”.
Olympique de Marseille performed exceptionally well to register a 1-0 victory over the Greek adversary.
Following a disastrous start to their 2011/12 Ligue 1 campaign, Marseille were finally able to record their first win in six competitive games. With just three points, Marseille are 17th in Week 5 of Ligue 1 it seems that Les Phoceens might find
it hard to mount a title challenge.
The Rhone club won the Trophee des Champions earlier in the summer, but failed to replicate the same performances in 2011/12 Ligue 1 Championnat.
Following the win in UEFA Champions League, Marseille coach Didier Deschamps feels that a lot still needs to be done. He was quoted saying, “Even if we win in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908, it won’t give us any more points in Ligue 1.”
The concerned owner, Margarita, was not satisfied with the poor start to their Ligue 1 season byt is confident that Marseille will be able to take their performance in Greece back home. The St. Petersburg-born French said, “I’m sure this is just the beginning
and we will continue like that. That is why I came here [Athens], to show that I trust my team.”
With the French tactician facing a lot of criticism in the past month, Margarita has shown her complete confidence in the abilities of the former Juventus coach. “While there are difficulties, I’m sure that with this team and Didier we will win,” said http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991
native French.
Olympique de Marseille coach is not really satisfied with the small margin win against the Greek side. Although the 42-year-old is still committed on teaching his team a new style of play, the team’s morale will be boosted as they head to Stade Gerland on
Sunday (Week 6 of Ligue 1) to face arch rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 in the Derbie de Rhone.
Yet to taste victory in the domestic league, majority of Les Phoceens shareholders will be keeping a close eye on the performance of the Rhone club and particularly Didier Deschamps.
