Or would Margarito make adjustments and beat him more convincingly? Is there a possibility of this fight taking place?

  1. I think Joshua Clottey would finish what he started in the first fight before he injured his hands. I mean, there are not many adjustments Antonio could have made, Clottey's defense just seemed to be too tight for him. Most of the punches Magarito threw in the first four rounds missed and the ones that landed had virtually no power behind them, despite Antonio's reputation for being a big puncher. Call me crazy, but I think Joshua's accuracy is comparable to that of Floyd Mayweather and I think he will prove when he fights the winner of the Cintron/Margarito fight that he is truly one of the best welterweights in the world.

  2. Clottey was taking Margarito apart early in their first fight and dominated Margarito with clean, powerful counter punching.   I would applaud Margarito for taking another fight with Clottey,   he was an the verge of getting KOed and I don't think Margarito will take the risk of a rematch.  I don't know that Margarito can make adjustments, Clottey's punches were clean, compact and very accurate.  I think Margarito knows he got lucky the first fight and his luck would run out in a rematch.  I would be very surprised if fight again, I don't think Margarito will take the risk.  Matthew P is correct, Clottey is a very dangerous fighter, and I think he would hold his own wtih anyone at 147 and most at 154 as well.

  3. I really think that if Clottey had not injured his hand, he would have beat Margarito that night.  If they do fight a rematch and Clottey does not injure his hands, then I would still pick him to beat Margarito because of his great defense and his ability to land effective shots.  Margarito throws a ton of punches but a lot of them are wild and thats why they miss.  It is possible for the rematch to occur, but I think the most likely scenario is that Clottey fights for the vacant IBF belt since he is their mandatory and I really think that the winner of Cintron/Margarito 2 will vacate the title so they could face Cotto.  However, if Cotto fights Mayorga, which is rumored, then I don't see any other worthwile fight for the winner to take except Clottey (and if Margarito beats Cintron again, then the rematch will most likely occur).
