Did anybody see the Margarito victory the man is a bull. People kept sayin Cotto was gonna destroy him but Margarito was not gonna lose tonight. Seeing the look on Cotto's face was amazing because he knew he was staring at a man he couldnt defeat just amazing. Plus those slow motion scenes at the end of the PPV broadcast gave me chills long live BOXING Ive seen MMA fights and they will never match what I saw tonight.

Margarito took some really hard hits and just kept coming back. His chin is a brick wall. Hands down best match not only of the year but one boxing has not had in a really long time.

I said Cotto coundn't fight going backwards and a fast paste fight. He out box Margo but couldn't handle the pressure. The body punches wore on Cotto. Cotto got winded in the Mosley fight around the 9th. I told people Cotto has a stamina issue.

The thing about Margo is that he never recieved the respect he deserved because of his record. People see those 5 losses and they think 'this guy is no good'. They don't realize that 3 of those losses came when the guy was 16 and just barely learning how to fight. The other 'loss' was the most bogus stoppage I've ever seen. And I think we can all agree that he was NEVER hurt by Paul Williams.

Tonights fight shows EXACTLY why Mayweather wanted no part no Margo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Margarito is un-natural in this fight.  Cotto did everything right but did not have enough stamina or heart to keep up.  Personally I like how Max Kellerman proves once again how stupid and biased Stewart and Lampley can be.  He said in the middle rounds that Cotto looked like he wanted to quit even though he landed the cleaner punches.  I think Cotto's heart went out when Margarito kept landing hard punches after Cotto him with pretty much everything.  You have to ask yourself whether a guy is human or not when he takes 4 or 5 to land 1.  I am now a Margarito fan but I don't think this fight took anything away from Cotto.  He had 4 minutes left to go but he got swept up in the Tornado!  Fight of the year!  Should be on ESPN Classic tomorrow!

Boxing fans shouldn't even soil this even by mentioning MMA.  We who love boxing are rewarded by fights like this.  They can watch men in spandex hug and rape each other on the ground.  I'm watching the sport of Kings.  MMA has interesting fights?  Why?  Because they're white?  Lmao.  Kimbo Slice?  Chuck Liddell?  Your best fights are bad amateur boxing without gloves.

I agree with the poster below.  Paul Williams wasn't going to knock him out.  But he did land cleaner punchers which were effective in a much higher volume.  When boxers go the distance that matters as I think it should.  I don't think judges should score a round for a fighter who flurries soft pitter pat punches (De La Hoya vs. Mayweather).

That hands down was one of the best fights I've seen in a long time! I mean no matter how hard margarito was hit he just chargged through it. Man Coto got his butt whopped but he fought very well none the less. Dude MMA had nothing on that.

I put a couple bucks on Margarito, thinking the fight would pretty much go as it did (at least scoring-wise), but I had no idea how much punishment he was able to endure. I seriously can't get over how many clean, sharp and goddamned HARD punches Margarito ate without once taking a step back. I haven't seen that kind of pressure since Marvin Hagler! What kind of a machine is Margarito? I'm a huge fan of Cotto, but I don't see how he can ever be the same fighter after tonight.

all i can say is WOW!! i couldn't be more proud of a fellow Mexican Margarito, i started worrying when Cotto kept hitting Margarito with really clean punches... but like Max Kellerman said "hitting Margarito is like hitting a brick wall" by far it was one of the BEST fights i have ever seen

no we know why Mayweather retired... he wants no business with Margarito

Cotto showed tremendous heart by be able to last Margaritos pressure.. i hope Cotto comes back and doesnt let this loss get in his head.. Cotto is a great fighter i applaud him...

amusa i could not agree with you any more. yes these are the type of fights that us fans want to see. not the ones that bore you to tears. I think this cotto vs Margo is a candidate for the fight of the year. Poor Cotto threw every thing to Margo but the kitchen sink. And the man just kept destroying cotto round by round. It is a cliche.. once again Mex and Puerto Rico live up to their name.

totally agree it was a great fight, the best in a long time, but i always believed ( and won some good money) betting on Margarito, my rational was that for the weight he is the bigger guy, can punch harder than Cotto, can take a better punch than Cotto, and has the heart of a lion.

Not taking anything away from Cotto he had a real dig but never in my opinion hurt Margarito, and mid way through the fight round 7 Margarito caught up with him, and hurt him.

My belief is that styles make fights and Cotto is tailored made for Margarito and if i were in Cotto"s corner i would have a plan (b) to put into play when and if the tactic"s where not taking toll on Margarito, which they weren"t but all in all a great advertisement for the most honourable of Sports.
