Margarito test positive for steroids??

my dad was in PR watching the boxing match last night and today..he has heard some rumors about margarito having been on steroids last night..he even said it was on the local channals over there...but iv looked around here and i havent seen anything??

Regardless of whether or not that is true, steroids would not help his performance during the fight.

Steroids help in training and recovery from training.

I doubt that weight limit fighters could take steroids since it causes weight gain, so they would not be able to make their weight for the fight.

Irregardless if Margarito was or is on steroids can and will not take away from the fact that Cotto hit him with everything he had, including the kitchen sink and did not faze Margarito. Steroids help with strength not with your chin my dear.

I am NOT a sore loser, Margarito is a very good fighter, but it seemed very suspicious to me and desperate people sometimes take desperate measures, you can get anything in Tijuana, even things that are untraceable. There is no way Cotto could not have dazed Margartito after those shots unless foul play was involved. NO WAY....PERIOD!!!

Cotto Won and we love and support him here in PR. IF Margarito took steriods, that is his problem.  Puerto Ricans aren't making up rumors about that man because in our minds....Cotto Won. Did you see the numbers at the end of the fight? Cotto won by a landslide in punches landed and Power punches. Margarito is a tapa boquete!!!

I really don't like to comment in all this forums but I have to say is really making me sick this situation about Miguel and Margarito. I have hear the rumor about Margarito using steroids and I have to believe that is just a rumor, i live in Puerto Rico and I have not hear anything on the local press. It will be very bad for Margarito if he test positive to steroid, after waiting for so long to get a chance, to grab the title like that is not really cool. Mexicans are really proud people to and great fighters.

Puertorricans are very proud people specially when you talk about boxing. We have produce several world champions for the our tiny little island. I'm really proud of Miguel, he lost but I have more respect for him now. He is a true champion and a warrior, there is no doubt that he will be back soon and even better. If you look the fight Margarito really got lucky that glazing uppercut to the nous at the end of the second round change the hole tempo of the fight. It was like when Diaz got cut on his last fight. Margarito capitalize on the opportunity and was victorious. I don't think that Cotto got any conditioning problems, but when you are swallowing blood for more that 20 minutes and you are getting hit to the stomach something got to give.

We have to wait until the rematch to see what happen. I hope next time will be a different fight. And for all my fellows Mexicans even with this lost we still wining the Mexico vs Puerto Rico rivalry.

I think cotto is a superb fighter but it just so happened that Margarito had his number, if he had lost like when De la hoya lost to Trinidad then yes they could be upset because that was robbery.

he did not take steroids believe me i've seen some of his first fights and he has always had an iron chin and incredible stamina and if he did take steroids he has been taking them since he was 15 on his debut and steroids stays in your system for a long while

i believe margarito was in some sort of drug. Cotto hit him with all his knock out punches and margarito was still standing. He didnt feel anything, i bet he was on steriods and it help him stay focus.

steroids also effect your recovery and your aggression meaning that it made margarito like a beast if in fact he did take them. i dont really think that he whooped cotto. he just wore him down because if you looked at cotto (besides the blood pouring down his face) he didnt seem wobbled or dizzy. he just looked tired and discouraged. i would love to see a rematch though

Believe me steriods do not help you when you are getting punched. They can help strength and endurance but not your equilibrium. So anyone here that is trying to say he only won because steriods helped him take a punch your wrong. Take it from me I have done my fair share of juice a few years ago when I was a bouncer and it doesnt help any when your getting you head beat in. He might have had a harder punch but not a stronger chin. The drug tested would have been back by now so if he was on steriods we would know by now.

LOL Guys...just for the record, I'm puertorrican and happen to live on Cotto's town (Caguas). This was a great fight. Both fighters gave their best. One had to lose (it could be a draw, but you get the idea). I don't think Margarito used steroids. I also believe he's a great fighter and showed heart, worked hard, and deserves respect. He obviously has and iron head too LOL.

But seriously, my respect to him and all Mexicans. It was a fair fight. Margarito showed he had all the necessary attributes to be the champion.

I doubt there is any truth to that rumor.  Some fans just can never accept the defeat of their favorite fighters so they have to create rumors and excuses.  

Cotto is a great champion and he will be back.  However, frankly I don't think Margarito will lose to any welterweight anytime soon.  He's tough as nails and I don't think steriods can give him that.  

Look at the way he cut through Kermit Centron, TWICE, like a knife through hot butter.  I'd be surprised if Centron ever fights again and he's no push-over.  Margarito is JUST THAT TOUGH.

Keep talking about Mayweather.   He retired because he didn't want to fight Cotto.  He knew LONG ago that he wanted no part of Margarito.  He might fight Cotto now that he has lost.  He CERTAINLY will not fight Margarito.  Floyd might as well stay retired.    

I give Cotto A LOT of credit for taking this fight because he didn't have to.  He could have made MUCH more money against De La Hoya, a fight he would likely have won.  It's a shame because Margarito will now have to give up many advantages to some name fighter in another division.  No one in the division would want to fight him.  I think he could take Paul Williams in a rematch.  

I don't think Margarito will remain at 147 for long.  He will naturally out-grow that division.     Maybe that's what Floyd's waiting for.

first off steroids would have, in fact, impacted the fight. Second Margarito had a great chin and stamina in the ring..but play boy there are different types of PERFORMANCE ENHANCERS aka Steroids......and they could effect his strength witch obviously Cotto felt..and his speed and or stamina.....hence them being called performance enhancers....i hope he was taking them..that way ya'll goons that know nothing bout what your talking about can stay silent. oh and Cotto did get the beat down of his life...but every great fighter...has gotten there *** whopped...it only makes you better git.
