Margot Did gifted the jockey, Hayley Turner, with the second group success through the Nunthorpe Stakes

The outcome of the 2011 Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes (British Champions’ Series) was more of a collective effort than was witnessed in any race ever before. With trainer Michael Easterby saddling the favourite entry of the race, Hoof It, it was doubtful
if any other horse would have got a chance to take the lead, maintain it and then land the race.
The highly surprising and shocking result of the race gave female jockey, Hayley Turner, her second Group 1 success as she raced Margot Did to the wire.
The duo got prominent when the final furlong was approaching, rode inside the last furlong and kept on strongly winning the race by the margin of ¾ of a length.
The Michael Bell trained set Hamish McGonagall as the runner-up.
"She's a small filly, but she's very tough. She liked having plenty of room and just blasted.
"I thought maybe a Group One would be stretching her ability-wise, but obviously not. She's always been special to me, but I've only really just figured how to get the best out of her. She loves plenty of daylight. It was just amazing, and I'm so thrilled
for the owners."
"It must have been difficult for him when I first started, pushing the owners to put a girl on their horses. Hopefully I can repay him by riding winners like this. I can't believe it, it's the best season ever."
Exceed And Excel’s four-year-old bay filly set the trainees of William Buick and the other hall mark trainers like Sir Michael Stoute and Roger Charlton, as failures.
Sadly enough the filly has not been able to achieve much after winning the Group 1 title. Rather that stands out to be her last success as after that all the starts that she undertook have been dreadful failures.
The ever so proud winning jockey, Hayley Turner grasped her first Group 1 success in the 2011 July Cup while she was riding Dream Ahead. She has set a precedent for the female jockeys and comes at par with the talent of all the top of the line jockeys.
If Margot Did will be the part of the line-up for the 2012 version of the race or not, has not been announced by the connections yet.
