Maria Sharapova declines to tone down her ‘screams’ during rallies – Tennis News
Russian tennis ace, Maria Sharapova, is reigning supreme over her competitors in the Australian Open but the twist in the tale was seen when Sharapova was stated as ‘too loud’ by world number eight, Agnieszka Radwanska. It seems
like Sharapova’s loud screams are dismantling the confidence of her opponent and more importantly lowering their concentration levels.
The Russian number one refused to lower the volume of her screams at the court by saying, “You've obviously asked me this question before. I've heard it a few times over my career. You've watched me grow up; you've watched me play
tennis. I've been the same over the course of my career. No one important enough has told me to change or do something different.”
One thing is for sure that her screams are pretty loud but it should not be the reason for any professional player for a loss against her. It looks like the Russian tennis icon can use her screams at the court to devastate her
competitors especially the Pole, Radwanska. Sharapova will lock horns with the reigning world number two, Petra Kvitova, in the semi-finals of the Australian Open on Wednesday.
It is going to be an absolute cracker of a match with Sharapova to enter as the hot favourite to win the contest. Despite of her inferior rankings, she holds massive experience of playing at such elite platforms in those crucial
stages and she is an in-form player at the moment. Kvitova is playing good but hasn’t yet found that sublime touch which is devastating for her competitors.
The most crucial part of the match will be to absorb the pressure and play the natural game. Kvitova plans to do that in her semi-final battle with Sharapova but players of her age usually bob down early and can’t recover heavy
blows that are ought to come from the reigning world number four, Sharapova. If she manages to clear the initial onslaught and power play of the Russian, she definitely has the chance to oust the Russian. It’s all about holding the nerves and assuring to commit
least number of unforced errors to avoid giving away easy points to the opponents.
Her final comment about the game suggested that she is going to enjoy the match rather than take the pressure and affect her game play. It is going to be an interesting encounter and gigantic crowd is expected to witness this encounter
at the arena.
