Maria Sharapova is positive about winning the French Open title – Tennis News
World number two, Maria Sharapova, will go head-to-head against the Estonian number one, Kaia Kanepi, for the first time in her career. However, she is on course to complete her career Slam by winning the Roland Garros French Open
title. She has just dropped one set on her way to the quarter-finals and will look to maintain her domination at the red dirt of Paris, France.
She won Wimbledon in 2004, US Open in 2006 and Australian Open in 2008. So, the only Grand Slam title missing is the French Open. For that matter, she stated, “I think I'm just much more grateful today for what I'm doing and what
I have, more than anything. So now when I'm playing, I really feel like I'm much more positive. Overall, I see my career much more positive than I looked at it back then, especially during the tough days.”
It will be a tremendous achievement for the 25-year-old Russian lady who has been in search for the French Open title ever since her debut in the professional circuit. She has been craving for the Grand Slam title this year having
made a comeback from a major injury layoff. She started off in emphatic fashion; reached the final of the Australian Open but lost to the reigning world number one, Victoria Azarenka. However, there is no Azarenka this time around and she is the top most seeded
player left in the draw. She should win the title considering the stakes; world number one spot and career Slam achievement.
She missed the majority of the season last year due to niggling shoulder and ankle injuries but hasn’t been troubled at all in 2012. She seems fit as ever and playing the best tennis so far. She successfully defended her title
in Rome and is on course to win the second title of the season.
One thing is scary for the Russian is her last performance. She committed 53 unforced errors and 12 double faults in the match. She looked in a bit of pain as well in the chilly windy weather. So, there might be some bad news for
the Sharapova lovers in the upcoming few days.
