Maria Sharapova leaves empty handed from the cafeteria at Olympics Village – Tennis News
Russian blonde, Maria Sharapova, had little trouble in ousting the 49th ranked Israeli star, Shahar Peer, in the London Olympics opener on the eve of Sunday. However, later at night she was mobbed by the Olympians in
a cafeteria when the third seed Russian was hunting down some food to fill up her tummy. She was present at the Olympics Village’s cafeteria for dinner but couldn’t find her way out of her fans to grab something to eat.
She commented about this hullabaloo in the following fashion, "It is one of my bigger mistakes to visit the cafeteria. I left without eating and barely managed to grab an orange juice. I have never seen so many people so happy
because they got a photo with me. Sometimes I am a little naive when it comes to my popularity and success."
Sometimes it is hard for the athletes to keep a low profile in public especially when you are as hot as the Russian beauty queen. Everyone would love to have a snap with her and put it as their profile picture to gather hundreds
of likes.
It is not easy to carry a sober image all the time in the public when you are such a huge celebrity like Sharapova. However, the Russian did well to hold on to her temper and entertained her fans in the best possible manner.
Sharapova has made her maiden Olympics entry as a flag-bearer for Russia. She was thrilled to be the lead character during the march at the opening ceremony of Olympics on Friday. Moreover, she has commenced her gold medal hunt
in an emphatic fashion; registering straight sets 6-2, 6-0 triumph. It is probably a massive moment for the Russian superstar to complete her career gold slam at Olympics in London.
Earlier this year, the 25-year-old Russian completed her career Slam by winning the missing French Open trophy at Paris, France. It has been a terrific breakthrough season for the Russian beauty queen who struggled massively with
niggling injuries in 2011.
Sharapova looks to defy the odds and put her hands at the gold at the All England Lawn Tennis Club; same place where she opened up her Major title account at the age of 17.
