  1. If she'd wish to become a US citizen, she could do so & apply for 1. She may opt to retain her Russian status & apply for a dual citizenship, that way she may have 2 options at that. Like Martina Navratilova, Vicario Sanchez, Monica Seles. But if Maria will marry an all American guy she will automatically be a US citizen. Her bright tennis future for now remains in the US, so it will be best for her to stay in the US while she's on top of her prime. Yeah, she's gorgeous & 100% beautiful in men's eyes as well as to the ladies'.

  2. no doubt she is most beautiful n hott player but i dont like her attitude n her rude kind of behaviour on court, for jelena yes she is fantastic, entertaining and natural player

  3. i don't think she should change her nationality.she is a Russian and she should represent Russia only.

  4. Why should she become a U.S. citizen?  She's Russian-born and proud to represent Russia, but can still have the best of both worlds by having U.S. residency.  It seems to be working well for her, so why would she change her status?  I wouldn't if I were her.

  5. I love her too, but even if she becomes a citizen she's probably will keep representing Russia. That's just not nice to your culture and country if you switch like that. Especially if you're one of the best on the team. If she did switch, it might p**s of Russia and not everyone in the US might like her cause she's not an all american girl. I would be... disappointed in her to abandon her home nation like that. I don't think she would ever do that though. I will still have mad respect for her and love her even if she does switch.

  6. i think she should represent Russia only coz russia doesnt hav strong players like her! Sveta is strong but not STRONG like her!!!

  7. no, it doesn't matter if she is American or not to me she is the bestest player around.

  8. Maria has been living in the US since she was 7 years of age (enough to have a US citizenship) but she doesn't want to relinquish her Russian nationality saying that she'll retain it. And when she was asked whether or not to represent the US for the years to come, she said she would always love to play for Russia and that the only reason why she left her homeland was to train and develop her tennis career and if it wasn't for that, there is no way that she will ever leave her native country.

I think she made the right decision... Maria is Russian by birth and by blood and her country is very proud of her accomplishments. And if she will ever represent the US, i think that would be arrogant of her to do that.

  9. well since I'm neither American nor Russian I don't care. Yep, she should however continue her winning ways... that way me and her other fans get to see more of her ;)

  10. no she will not be U.S citizen at all

because on day she want to back to russia and build a tennis club

the cuase of her migration to u.s.a that is in russia there is no good tennis club

  11. No, not now that she's trying to become friendly with the other Russian players again.  If she tried to become an American citizen she would be hated by all of the Russians.  Plus, being from Russia makes her even more famous, and she can become the best tennis player from Russia on of these days (if not already) where as in American she would just be another one of a few really great players.

  12. Since Russia is overloaded with really talented players, would it be better if Maria will play for a country that's sorely lacking with good players? England might love to take her in

  13. OMG no. I cant stomach her, sadly enough. Sorry.

  14. Well. i really do agree that i keep thinking that she is an ameican since she doesn't have a strong accent all of the time and we (the US) use her in many ads (powershot, or watches, etc.). i think she totally should represent the US, unless you think of it like the Arnold swartzenagger situation (can not be pres. cuz not American citizen!) but i think that this should be an ineffective rule if the person has lived in and is a citizen of a country for like a minimum of 10 years perhaps.

  15. I think it would be neat if she were to become a U.S. citizen and represent the U.S.  If she were a U.S. citizen I would still like her as much as I like her now.

  16. I am happy that she is still Russian. I mean she could've changed her nationality a long time ago but i am sooooo glad that she didn't because she represents the best of Russian tennis.

  17. I don't think she should do that nor will do it because she would want to play for her own country. Also the USA have a huge amount of players already to pick from so it would seem a bit greedy compared to us in the UK where all we have is Murray.

  18. well she sure should. she lived here sence she was like 2. she owes it to america to represent us.

  19. i hope she will keep representing russia,,
