Maria Sharapova says goodbye to Sasha Vujacic – Tennis News
Former world number one, Maria Sharapova, split apart the American college player, Mallory Burdette, in the third round of the US Open Championship on the eve of Friday. She was extremely excited and expressed her opinion about
the match and playing against the 21-year-old youngster in the following fashion, "She came out, she has pretty huge ground strokes, and she likes to go for it. She's certainly somebody who could be dangerous if you give her the time to do what she likes to
do. I expected her to play a big, solid match - but overall I was able to play a pretty solid match today."
Everything seemed normal until the reporter asked a question about the relationship of Sharapova with the Slovakian baseball player, Sasha Vujacic. Sharapova took a deep breath and replied that the relationship is over since the
end of the spring season. She further added, “It was a really nice period for both of us but our career schedules just made it extremely difficult to see each other with the travelling, especially his move to Turkey.”
It is always tough to maintain a high profile relationship with a professional like Sharapova deals in. Both players are supposed to travel across the world throughout the calendar year and they were unable to meet up and stay
connected. The move of Vujacic to Turkey was the major hurdle between the two players because their meetings were diminished to almost none and that is always the biggest factor in breaking up a couple.
Sharapova was a bit turned down after the question and her cute smile was transformed into a sad face that clearly gave a signal to the reporters to end the press conference and give the Russian superstar sometime to regroup. She
looked satisfied by the mutual decision but her facial expression and the discomforting moves of her fingers clearly depicted that she was a bit heartbroken to have ended such a strong relationship.
The Four-time Grand Slam Champion will lock horns with the 19th seed compatriot, Nadia Petrova, in the fourth round of the US Open Championship on Sunday.
