accomplish a dream of becoming the second women in the history of the women tennis to complete Career Gold Slam.
However, she will surely be fuming in with confidence to take her revenge from the women who did manage to complete Career Gold Slam, Serena Williams. She is seeded third in the tournament so might find two former world number
ones, Jelena Jankovic and Caroline Wozniacki, in her way to the title triumph. Another strong contestant in her quarter of the draw is the 12th seed Slovak, Dominika Cibulkova.
Sharapova told reporters, “If I sat here and thought there was nothing I could do, that would probably be very disappointing. It will motivate me to keep going and keep practicing. There are certainly things I could have done better
but she was playing really good tennis."
Montreal tournament is a key to enter the year’s fourth Grand Slam Championship, the US Open, at a high-note. Its thousand points’ tournament and the victory over here can help the Russian to not only replace the Belarusian superstar,
Victoria Azarenka, but also build a strong lead at the top of the world rankings as well.
Sharapova completed her Career Slam earlier this season by winning the Roland Garros French Open title in Paris, France. She was the flag-bearer for the Russian team in the London Olympics opening ceremony and almost clinched a
gold medal on her maiden appearance in the Games as well. So, it has been good round of play for the 25-year-old Russian who will look to make a strong hard court season start at Montreal.
