Maria Sharapova set to revitalize Wimbledon brilliance – Tennis News
World number one, Maria Sharapova, won the final of the Roland Garros French Open against the Italian superstar, Sara Errani and completed her Career Slam. It was a therapeutic moment for the Russian superstar who has been an eye-catcher
throughout her career; ever since her first Grand Slam triumph in 2004 at Wimbledon at the age of 17.
However, it was not an easy journey for the Russian superstar. She faced a lot of injuries, the most irritating ones shoulder an ankle, which forced her out of action for a considerable part of the last season. So, while the
25-year-old Russian beauty queen was showered by Champagne corks, she flashed back her career and celebrated her majestic triumph in the most emphatic fashion.
She deserved that completely. It was not more than just a year when she was thought to be no more a competition by the athletes just because she was unable to fire in the serves fast due to a shoulder injury. Her movement was limited
by the ankle injury. Everything was running against her favour.
Sharapova is determined to repeat the heroics of the Wimbledon Championship after eight years. She confessed, “Of course it was reasonable for people to write me off because I was out of the game, I’d just had shoulder surgery.
And then, of course, my comeback story wasn’t like I got back on the court and I won a grand slam. It took a lot of time, it took a lot of bad losses, it took a lot of bad days. It certainly didn’t come easy for me. I felt like I really deserve the French
Open win because I worked so hard and I went through so many tough days to get here. Now I’ll start to think about Wimbledon.”
She has just won a major title earlier this month and took a right decision by not participating in any of the warm-up tournaments at the grass court surface because if she lost in the earlier stages of the tournament, it would
have been a major heartbreak for her. It would have broken her momentum and dismantled her morale. So, now the things are running in her favour. She has not lost a match for the last tournaments she had played, Rome and French Open; hence, she would like to
bag another title before her unbeaten streak is broken by someone and there can be no better title than Wimbledon.
