Maria Ulitina defeats Olga Nadtochiy at European Club Championships 2012 – Badminton news
Ukraine’s Maria Ulitina showed her aggression in the court when she toppled her compatriot Olga Nadtochiy in her first contest in Women’s Singles category at European Club Championships 2012 in Hungary, on Tuesday, May 29, in Hungary.
The in-form Maria Ulitina, who has been placed at number 123 in Women’s Singles world rankings, put up stunning show of top quality badminton and remained successful in winning the battle in a one-sided fashion.
The higher ranked Ulitina showed her class while playing against her lower ranked team-mate and emerged as the winner in straight games with a stunning score on the board.
On the other hand, Olga tried her best to put up strong show but failed to match the class of her rival and remained struggling in the court. She could not cope up with the fast tempo of rallies and eventually bowed down to her compatriot in straight games.
In the opening game, Ulitina showed her brilliance as she played with precision and did not consume any time in setting up an early lead on the score board.
The lower ranked Olga could not put up good show and also remained trailing far behind on the board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the higher ranked Ulitina continued playing her normal game without showing any mercy to her country-mate.
She remained positive throughout the opening game of this opening set and wrapped it up easily with an inspiring margin of 21-12.
In the following set, the impressive Ulitina was focused in the game as she did not drop down her speed and also maintained her upper hand over her opponent.
Until the mid-game interval in second set, Ulitina was sailing smoothly while setting up a comfortable lead.
After the break, Ulitina showed her brilliance in the court as she did not lose her focus and also kept the tempo of rallies at the highest level. She remained positive in the ending phase and bagged the set with a thrashing margin of 21-7.
Ulitina won this first battle in the tournament with a phenomenal 21-12 and 21-7 score on the board.
