Maria said she didn't pull out of Berlin?

In Berlin's site, it says that Maria has pulled out because of an unspecified injury. Is that true? She said in her official website weeks before Berlin that her next tournament is Rome. Why is that?

I got this from her official site, is it true?

"As many of you know, the WTA tour makes many players enter tournaments that they know the players will not be playing. I informed the WTA several months ago that if I played Charleston, I would have to pull out of Berlin. Now they are forcing me to give an injury for the reason why I am pulling out or they will give me an additional fine on top of the 125,000 fine already given to me. I am a very giving person, but I refuse to give anymore of my money to the WTA tour. So I want everyone to know that besides getting sick the past few days, I am healthy and I am looking forward to playing Rome. The good news is that the new road map for next year should solve all these problems."

  1. i haven't heard of anything like this before and i hope it isn't true.

  2. I haven't read this one yet but if you're saying you got it from her official website then it is probably true. WTA loves to impose fines!

  3. More power to her!  Sometimes I think the WTA, which is supposed to represent the players, has their priorities wrong.

  4. Wow! She had a 125,000 fine!  She should play one game and then lose on purpose or withdraw, then they won't fine her. IT's dumb to force players to play tournaments, they'll lose ranking points if they don't play.

  5. If this is true, then the WTA turns out to be rotten
