Marian Gaborik positive after shoulder surgery, early recovery expected -NHL Update
New York Rangers veteran right winger, Marian Gaborik, came out for the first time after his shoulder surgery earlier in June to say that he was feeling good and positive after the procedure had taken place, ensuring an early recovery and ready to go for
the upcoming 2012-2013 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season.
He was taking with Blueshirts United in an interview and briefed the media on how the progress has been going for him up until now. From riding a bike, the veteran forward is now weight training and may be back on the ice much sooner than expected.
"I feel good," Gaborik said. "I have been working hard in terms of rehab. Things are going as they should be, so I am happy with the progress."
The surgery took place on June 6, as it was learnt that Gaborik had been playing with a torn labrum in his right shoulder throughout the playoffs. It is believed that he would not have known had the playoffs continued.
With such an injury, Gaborik showed no signs of slowing down and still potted 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) in 20 games played and two minutes in penalty time.
During the regular season, Gaborik proved why he was one of the best by playing in all 82 games along with putting up 41 goals and 35 assists for 76 points in total.
Discussing the latest induction of Columbus Blue Jackets captain, Rick Nash, on to the line-up, Marian Gaborik was confident that New York Rangers would be even strong next time around.
"The opposition now has to watch more guys," Gaborik said. "They have to decide who to put their top (defense) pair against. So to have that kind of balance on our team, the pressure spreads throughout the team in terms of scoring. He is going to help that
way, for sure. We're going to have more power offensively, and that's big for us."
In a total of 722 games played, Marian Gaborik has 647 points (324 goals, 323 assists). His appearance and performance next season are two things which Rangers and fans are looking forward to seeing.
