Question:

Marian Hossa to NOT remain a Pittsburgh Penguin....Naslund to return?

God, I'm sick of this all!

"Several media outlets have reported that the Penguins extended a contract offer of between $50-52 million over seven years to Marian Hossa but Hossa's agent Ritch Winter said those reports were completely off base.

"There is not even one basic piece of information from those reports that are true."

--Ouch.

Naslund?

"It may be the NHL's new radarpar in the autumn.

Much talk to Pittsburgh may not retain Marian Hossa and then Markus Näslund be a perfect substitute.

-- Clearly it would be fun to play with Crosby, admits Näslund when I via an e-mail is testing the idea on him."

When was Naslund going to return to Pittsburgh? What?

^^It's in swedish.

So, even if none of this matters, here is my quesion:

Do you think Naslund-Crosby-Dupuis would be a better line than Hossa-Crosby-Dupuis?

  1. We already know that Hossa worked out quite well in Pittsburgh last season...there is no telling how the chemistry would work with Naslund.  me myself would take the safer route and stick with Hossa if he was willing to accept less money.....but i would keep Naslund in mind if the Pens cant re-sign Malkin

  2. i like hossa-crosby- and dupis line!

  3. That is complete b/s.

I don't think Hossa is leaving the Penguins.

    Better line - Hossa-Crosby-Dupuis!

  4. First of all, I follow all those rumor sites and I have to say that they are very rarely accurate or even close.  I regret paying for a few of them and am going to suspend my membership after my 1 year is up until they start getting some rumors right.  I dont care what anyone says there aren't that many Leafs rumors out there but thats all you get on these websites because thats where the hits are coming from....

As for your question...I think I would rather hang on to Hossa just because he's an entire package.  I feel like Naslund has his good years, his outstanding years, and his "eh" years....

I would try and land Hossa long term because he will get you a cup, not that Naslund won't but why not keep Hossa if you can.  Also, if you keep Hossa he is already in with the team and has cemistry built which is better than bringing in a new guy and hoping the chemistry is there....

  5. Hossa is a great player, but I think that it was obvious that there was no real chemistry with Crosby. I know that they scored some goals, but Hossa is not a second on a first line set up.

I think that for the sake of his career, Hossa should look elsewhere for a line that he fits in with. Crosby is a big head player who needs a supporting cast, not another star to play with.

I think that this answers your question.

The Pens had a good run, but I think that they just got strong at the right time more than anything. I predict a second round exit this season.

  6. The offseason has just enough drama to rival the hockey section, eh?

and we're not even past the draft yet!

  7. Im from and live in Pittsburgh and am a major Penguins fan. Recently I have read in the Post Gazette that keeping Hossa was their "Main Priority" right now. Several players have said that as well. I am sure that Malone is gone there is no chance of him staying but we may get to keep Hossa (I really hope so) and Orpik (yay). Players and managers have said that the guys really enjoy playing together and want to chase the cup with the Penguins.

I would prefer Hossa to Naslund.

Lets Go Pens! We'll get the Cup next season!
