Question:

Marian Hossa to Phoenix?

What are the chances? With Pittsburgh unlikely to resign him some one will call. I've heard Phoenix may be intrested and bringing in Marcel Hossa his brother was a move made to lure Marian in. I doubt this happens but could it?

  1. That'd be a good move for him, but why not Detroit? They were talking about getting him at the deadline and well..they could use another great star like him. It would also give him an opportunity to try and win another cup. I know i may be getting ahead of myself, but that would be sweet!

    As of 30 minutes ago:

Marian Hossa said for the first time that he would consider signing for less money than he could get on the open market, in order to stay with the Penguins long term.

As one of the elite wingers in the NHL, the 29-year-old Hossa would definitely be a valuable commodity when July 1st rolls around and he becomes a free agent. However, he seems to be more inclined to take a little less money to stay with a team that should be a perennial contender in Pittsburgh. "If I wanted to make a couple more dollars, I would probably just re-sign with Atlanta," Hossa said. "There's always a limit, but I'd rather take a little less and play on a good team, definitely."

  2. that would make Phoenix a playoff team. they need to get Vrbata to stay. that would be a pretty good combo. Specially having Bryzgalov in the net for the whole season. they could pull the 6th or 7th seed next year.

  3. Maybe. If the Pens end up signing Malone, then Hossa would most likely go. This is similar to what happened with the Sabres last year with Drury and Briere: they just can't keep both under the cap.

  4. Well... If I were Pittsburgh I would spend that money on Defense! There is always the opportunity to get someone in the Trade Deadline every year, why take on another 7mil (discounted) or more in Offense when your defense is porous and could use a little strengthening.

  5. yea this could, i dont think pits is keeping personally. which is wicked stupid, he is a great player and a huge asset to the pengiungs. and if i ever made it to the nhl i would def. want to play on the same team as my brother. it would be a great um.. situtation? for marian to be abel to play with his brother, and i would think that they would play well together

  6. never thought of that but i think he'll go be a free agent and then any1 will pick him up

  7. That would be a good move.Hossa getting tips from 99 wouldn't hurt as well.Pittsburgh had to know this was a rent a player for the rest of the season and their chance or resigning Marian was slim with all the contracts they still have to worry aboot.

  8. Never thought of that. I can see him becoming a Phoenix Coyote. Good question.

Morgan - are you serious? Marian Hossa was 3rd in total points in this year's playoffs. I can't believe you just said that.  =S

  9. who cares his career is on the downhill

he never could show up for the big game!

  10. That's the biggest reason why Phoenix lured Marcel Hossa to the desert: to bring in Marian Hossa. However, if I were Don Maloney, I would stick with the kids, determine if my team was a contender at mid-season, then trade depth to pick up someone who could put the Coyotes over the top. Remember not too long ago, the Coyotes signed an elite winger (Tony Amonte), and look at how well that moved turned out (no playoffs and Amonte's career went downhill fast).

  11. I think it has a good chance of happening. But Hossa needs to know that the Coyotes will not ahve a shot at the cup for the next 2 seasons.

It's very difficult to say what will happen though. I would like him to stay in the Eastern COnference so that he can avoid playing San Jose in the regular season as much as possible!
