Now that I have your attention, what changes, if any, do you see “your” team making this off season?

For the Wings:

Dallas Drake is expected to retire.

Wings are expecting to offer a contract Darren McCarty

Brad Stuart says he wants to stay – and Detroit wants him there

We all know Hasek is retiring.

Cheliosaurus says he’s staying.

  1. Flyers-Trading for Meszaros or getting Campbell for the blueline.Resigning RJ is hes not dealt, also Jeff Carter.

  2. I see the Bruins not doing much. They re-signed Ward. I'd like to see them re-sign Metropolit..like a lot. I love that guy. Maybe sign Hossa, but I don't think they're willing to offer enough for him. They need another goal scorer to go wtih Bergeron, Savard will set them up..they just need a proven finisher. Need to get better in the defensive zone too, but I doubt they will. They have a real good farm team so there's hope for young talent, but they need more.

  3. whoa this is the first I'm hearing of this about Hossa. Drake is retiring for sure? I know about all the rest though. My team is the Wings though ;)

    haha Cheliosaurus!!

  4. i would kill some1 if that happened. im a die hard pen fan so yea

  5. Kalinin's gone

I think they give Pratt a 1yr deal

Connolly and Afinogenov will be shopped but both wil stay

    Numminen will retire

    Thiabault's gone

    Ryan will resign cheap

    Our UFAs

    Gaustad long term

    Bernier and MacArthur resign

Maybe go afetr John-Michael Liles and a backup goalie

  6. The Lightning will buy-out Marc Denis' contract and draft Steve Stamkos. The rest remains entirely up in the air.

  7. The Red Wings fans here have just about said it all as far as what the team would like to do.

The team might also consider that Goalies Dan Ellis and Ty Conklin are both free agents (they finished #1 and #2 in Save Percentage in the regular season).  I'm not sure that Jimmy Howard has shown enough to be The goalie of the future (Yes, I know his opportunities at the NHL level have been limited, but he didn't have a good year in GR this year.)

  8. For the Panthers. Mezei and Peltonen are going away. We have very few draft picks this time. No first round ones at all right this moment. So I see a trade happening. I see Olli going in that trade. We need some solid D and a goalie of the future would be a huge thing.  Bouwmeester  is staying. WE need a coach to get things rolling right now as well

  9. I dont see much of a change in Detroit next year, Detroit is still a grave yard for old NHLers ,

But I dont care im a Vancouver Canuck fan

  10. King pretty much wrapped it up. Especially about Malik!!! I'm glad Aves is coming back! :)

  11. Howard splits time with OZZY next year... maybe 60/40 if he plays well

    I think Downey leaves...

Kopecky is back to take Drakes spot, as he was his understudy this year.

Either Lilja and or Stuart will sign.. if not, the Wings have  Meech, Quincey and Ericsson all ready to be played. If they need more experience come the deadline, they can find another Stuart!

Filppula signs an extension for 1.5 a year...... STAYS!

All in all.. the RED WINGS are almost the same next year! SCARY!

Also, REMEMBER... Holland always finds some GOOD player in his late 30s that fits a role that the Wings need.. signs him for cheap cause he wants a chance at the CUP... just like Drake last year! Look for a surprise somewhere of someone being Added.

ADD- Babcock says the WINGS will be better next year!

  12. Shanny retiring.

Jagr is expected to come back.

sign Straka to make Jagr happy.

Try and go for Hossa if Jagr doesn't come back and try and get Campbell.

    Let Malik walk.

  13. no he is staying with us.

  14. nope Ottawa Senators

  15. The Stars signed Dan Jancevski to a two-year, two-way contract.  Toby Peterson signed a two-year, one-way deal.  Barnes and Norstrom will be UFA.  If Norstrom doesn’t sign with the Stars, he’s retiring.   Some billionaire Canadian (Jim Balsillie) wants to buy a hockey team and has talked to Thrashers, Canes, Lightening and Stars, but Bettman said “no way.”

  16. Hossa said he's willing to take a pay cut to stay in Pitt...they also have a good chance of winning the cup, so I could see why he would want to stay and not go back to a horrible team like Atlanta... (no offense Atlanta fans) I don't think he'll sign with the Red Wings unless he decides to not go with the pay cut and be greedy, or he thinks he has a better chance of winning the cup with the Wings.

  17. It's got to hurt Marian Hossa to be told by the Wings "Sorry, but we don't NEED you."

What if Mike Grier of SJ is a UFA? He was born in Detroit and would bring the same veteran grittiness as Drake.

I'm not sold on Jimmy Howard yet. The little I've seen of him, he seems to be destined for at least one more year in Grand Rapids. Remember, the Wings took their time with Hudler, too.

Ericsson may be ready. Despite the wisecracks about Chelios, I'd be very happy for him to get 6-7 minutes of ice time per game while mentoring young blueliners. Lebda said Cheli was a huge help to him in overcoming jitters and anticipating plays when paired.

Looking at the prospects roster, the Wings are loaded with big, fast defensemen. I'm glad not a peep out of Lidstrom about retiring. Remember he talked about it after winning in 98? I'd admire him no matter which team he played on, like Bobby Orr or Gretzky. I went to the games to see their greatness.

NIPS has it summed up. Things are always in place for the Wings, since they're always looking ahead.

  18. I don't see Downey, Drake, or Lilja  coming back.

Nips: The perfect player in there mid 30's to replace Drake would be Owen Nolan, play a similar game but Nolan will contribute more offensively,  make it happen Kenny!

  19. I live in Detroit so I think you've covered most of the main ones for the Wings.  Hasek just had a press conference at 11am today and officially announced his retirement.  The Wings already said that Osgood is going to be their main goalie next season (and who can blame them since he signed a 3 year contract extension).  There's also talk about bringing Jimmy Howard down from Grand Rapids to play backup to Osgood and let him get some NHL experience.

    P.S. - Cheliosaurus = LMAO!!!!!
