Marianne Vos happy with her second place finish at the Dutch National Championships

Annemiek Van Vleuten of Team Rabobank wins the Netherlands Road National Championships after her tremendous performance during the event.
She crossed the finish line in a quickest time of 114.4 kilometre race and occupied the top podium spot.
Marianne Vos of Team Rabobank finished 3 seconds behind at the second position with Lucinda Brand of Team AA Drink-Leontien.nl and Amy Pieters of Team Skil-Argos securing the second and the third positions.
The Dutch was not 100 percent during the race and appreciated Annemiek’s effort during the event.
She briefed, "I have suffered pain but that was because of the difficulty of the course”.
“My collarbone has held up fine. Annemiek earned the victory, she was simply stronger in the finale".
"I knew I was fit enough to race, but of course not whether I could cope with the intensity of competition”.
“When Annemiek got away in the first round by pulling on a steep climb”.
“I had a lot of difficulty and I knew immediately that Annemiek would be the leading contender for the gold”.
“I still tried to come back in the final, but today she was just the strongest”.
Marianne succeeded during the Cyclo-cross World Championships in 2012 for the third consecutive time after the 2006 and 2009 victories.
She also succeeded at the Trofeo Alfredo Binda, Ronde van Drenthe but fractured her collarbone after an accident during the Valkenburg Hills Classic on May 25.
Vos still managed to secure the second overall position at the race and was lucky to survive the surgery.
