Mariano Rivera all set to pitch on Opening Day – MLB Update
The New York Yankees veteran reliever Mariano Rivera is hoping a great next Major League Baseball season after string of injuries which caused him bitterly in 2012 Major League Baseball outing.
He was recently re-signed by the Yankees and now he is getting in full swing and preparing hard for the 2013 Opening Day. Currently busy in some non baseball related things, he talked to the media and commented enthusiastically on the coming season.
“Oh, yeah, I don’t see why not, We have at least three months, four months until that point. I’ll be ready,” Rivera said Wednesday at the Stadium, where he was helping out with the Yankees’ annual holiday food drive.
“The leg’s getting stronger and stronger, You have to give it time. I’m doing my part and time is doing its part.” he noted, before adding, somewhat philosophically on his recent past injury explaining in detail regarding all the potential aspects of his
past injury.
He added, “I just heard it here, Those two guys are veterans and good players and they know the league. They will be helpful for the team. One thing I know, the guy plays hard,” Rivera said. “Definitely, Yankee fans won’t like him because he was wearing
the Red Sox uniform... I can’t decide for them.”
The Yankees experienced campaigner was injured with torn ACL but he recovered with a quick pace and now potentially will join the Yankees in coming Spring Training. Though sources say that Rivera has not started throwing off the mound but with a hectic workout
session daily with team trainers, he is getting in shape with rapid pace.
Rivera, who played 2012, an injury struggled season, still managed to average at 2.16 ERA long with five saves, eight strikeouts and 0.90 WHIP. On the other end, his career ERA of 2.21 along with 608 saves, 1119 strikeouts and 1.00 WHIP certainly tells a
true tale of his brilliance on the mound.
Experts believe that this is a healthy sign that Rivera was re-signed by the New York Yankees as he will certainly provide a good offensive protection in the coming Major League season.
