Well she got her head chopped off in the end, after her husband got his chopped off.  Her children were mistreated and sent into exile.  So yeah while it might be good to be on top sometimes, with that comes sacrifice of privacy and eventually a fall.  Keep in mind that that movie was by no means historically accurate.  Marie Antoinette is a really interesting person though when you take the time to dig- she did alot of writing, especially towards the end of her life, and her childhood was really interesting too.  I would definitely pick up a biography on her if you have the time, she's one of those historical figures that's actually interesting.

Also if you're still interested in that kind of thing, you may also want to look into Napoleon's wife Josephine (very interesting life as well), and probably all the wives of Henry VIII.  If you like historical fiction try some books by Carolly Erickson.  She has one on Marie Antoinette, Josephine, and Catherine Parr (Henry VIII's last wife), which give some historical background but also some storytelling that makes it especially interesting (there's alot of s*x in some of them-just a warning if that kind of thing bothers you)

Well...I actually wouldn't want to be queen in her time.  SO much pressure to produce an heir and a threat of execution.  Not fun.
