Marieke Katherine Gueher wins Women’s 100m butterfly gold – Jose Finkel Trophy
Marieke Katherine Gueher of CRF/RJ won gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on third day of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday, August 22.
Gueher stunned the aquatic crowd with her notable form in the playoff of the 100m event. With her astonishing effort in the start of the race, she gained a marginal lead over her challengers and managed to outperform her strongest opponent over the finishing
wall for gold medal.
She continued her sterling form throughout the race and made her way to the finishing end for the crown of the discipline with a timing of 57.34 seconds.
Her title claiming effort remained only 0.05 seconds faster from Inge Dekker, who secured silver medal of the race by producing a time of 57.39 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Daynara Ferreira Paula of FIAT/MINAS, who remained one body length faster from her following swimmer and occupied bronze medal of the race by submitting a time of 58.17 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was secured by Daiene Marcal Dias of BFR, who stayed only 0.96 seconds apart and tapped the wall with an effort of 59.13 seconds.
Dias was chased by Fabiola Pulga Molina of FIAT/MINAS, who remained only 0.25 seconds slower from her former finisher and hit the wall with a timing of 59.38 seconds for fifth position.
Subsequently, Molina was followed by Daniele Paoli Jesus of ECP/SABESP, who stayed 0.28 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing blockade with a sixth fastest timing of 59.66 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Bruna Caroline Lemos Rocha of ECP/SABESP, who stayed just 0.08 seconds behind and hit the wall with an effort of 59.74 seconds.
Rocha was followed by Dandara Mendes Antonio of FIAT/MINAS, who tried hard to overpower her over the finishing end but failed to match her pace in the second lap. Antonio stayed only 0.12 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 59.86
seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Gueher was contented with her gold claiming effort in the 100m discipline.
