Marija Ulitina trounces Lene Clausen to claim Women’s Singles title at Slovenia International
Ukraine’s in-form shuttler Marija Ulitina showed a wonderful performance and claimed Women’s Singles title after crushing Denmark’s Lene Clausen in the final battle of FORZA Slovenia International 2013 on Sunday, May 12, in Slovenia.
The impressive Ukrainian shuttler, who was the third seed in Women’s Singles main round of the championship, did not show any sign of mercy to her Danish rival and easily thrashed her while taking just 25 minutes.
Marija showed her elevated craft while playing with greater level of precision and remained successful in winding up the final match in straight games with a completely one-sided 21-11 and 21-12 score on the board.
On the contrary, the fifth seeded Clausen was quite helpless against the powerful smashes and fast drives of her in-form Ukrainian challenger. She could not stop Marija’s progress at any stage and lost the match without proving her worth.
Marija delivered extremely well from the starting points of first set as she played with remarkable speed and grabbed the control of the game.
The tempo of the rallies was very fast in starting game and Marija entertained local fans with her incredible skills.
Until the end of first part of first set, the incredible Marija achieved a strong position on score board by setting up a sufficient gap.
After the mid-game interval, Marija stayed focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a comfortable gap.
The positive and attacking play of Marija helped her to stay in complete command of rallies and she did not miss any chance to end up rallies. She remained calm and composed in the arena that enabled her to bag the first game with a staggering margin of
21-11.
Clausen was once again in problem in the second game as she faced a cruel treatment from her challenger and remained struggling all the way.
The perfectly executed smashes and net killings kept Marija ahead of her rival all the way until the end of first half in second game.
In the second part of second game, the incredible Marija continued her comfortable run and easily bagged the second set by a stunning difference of 21-12.
