Marijuana helps with Anxiety?

Hi. I used to smoke weed a lot and I got depressed at the same time, so the doctor decided it was the weed's fault and I had to stop. It's been about 3 years since I last smoked weed (on purpose).

For the past few months, I've been really anxious, tense, unfocussed at work, angry, and have had a serious decline in happiness. I went to a concert on Tuesday, and it was like a giant hot-box. I got high (by accident).

*Hotbox: An enclosed space that gets filled with weed smoke. Everyone gets high, even if they're not smoking, because they breath in the smoke others exhale.

For the past three days, I've been more productive than I've been in 3 months. I can focus at work, I'm being creative, I'm happier, I'm sleeping better. Things just seem better.

Do you think smoking weed every once in a while would be a good idea? (Or a weed humidifier might work better. Do they have those? I should build one.)

  1. weed does not kill brain cells, weed does not cause cancer, weed does not give you emphysema. lets start with that.

    i think one of the problems is that when you say you used to smoke weed a lot, maybe u abused it.  everyone has different thresholds, and when you say that now you feel better then ever, maybe you should just regulate your smoking a little more.

    i think smoking weed every once in a while would be a great idea. weed is the good herb, and it can clear your head and refresh you.  i find that when i go to bed high, even if i only get 4 or 5 hours of sleep, i wake up energized and refreshed, and i stay that way the whole day.  

    also...ive never heard of a weed humidifier.  maybe you're thinking of a vap?  you could use a volcano without the bag...or maybe your thinking of something else.  my friend loosely described to me one time this thing that is supposed to blow incense into your car when you put it in front of the ac or heater vent, but he used it for weed...maybe you're thinking of that?

I usually don't condone smoking weed, but in your case it might help.  I would do the minimum necessary to calm you down.  I know someone who smoked every day for years, and had to quit when she took a job in corrections (!).  But I stress minimum!! and don't do it as a social event, or you will increase your uptake.

  5. I think maybe, I know I wish I had some once in a while, but then I would lose brain cells etc...  Anyway I am glad you are feeling better.

I think that you getting out and doing something you enjoy helped your mood.  And I also think that you would like to think the the weed helped your mood.  But in reality, I think your doc was right.  It only added to your anxiety.  Try getting out more, spending time with friends ect ect.  Enjoy the natural high of being happy! :)

  7. You should get a medical marijuana license so that you can buy the dank ****. They have tons of weed for different preferences. Like sativa weed gives a stupid laughing high, indica buds give you a body high great for relaxing, going to bed, coming home from work, s*x etc... I personally like a mixture between the two. I think it would be a great idea just don't get in a habit of smoking because it's a habit or it loses its qualities of getting high.

  8. yea weed has definetly been used in the past for anxiety medication by many people.  the book marihuana the forbidden medicine by harvard doctor lester grinspoon highlights many such cases.

  9. h**l ya cuz! I smoke dat shish every day and I feel mothafuckin good! I usually smoke 5-6 small blunts every day, and i drink about 4-5 cups of purple drank. I get high as the moon but it feeels goooood. Defienetely you should smoke it every day if possible! (Btw if you don't know what purple drank is-Purple drank is when u mix codeine cough syrup with sprite and a jolly rancher and you drink it to get high, try it its verrrrry good!)

  10. 1st of all weed is not a depressant your doctor just said that to make you not smoke because it can cause other health problems

  11. Green is not for everyone. It gives people a different high, not to mention there are different kinds of ganja that produce different effects.

    If it made you feel like that before, you could of had that reaction because of whatever was going on in your life at the time.

    Now, that you were having fun at the concert, it had a more positive effect because of the circumstances.

    Contrary to what other people say, marijuana does not fry brain cells, and it has yet to be proven that it causes other health problems.

    In my opinion, if you see that it had a positive effect, start off slow. A couple of hits at a time... you know your limit and the kind of high you want. Remember that marijuana is not addictive, you can leave it at anytime if you see that it's just not for you. :)

  12. I first smoking weed in 1972. I can tell you first hand that smoking week will increase your anxiety.

    I used to feel the same way. Please take this into consideration. It worked for me, although I am not you.

    I had overwhelming anxiety. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda. How could something that taste so good, be so bad?



    I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. Sadly, the package doesn't have to say Splenda or diet to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might be using it and don't even know it!



    Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia, gastrointestinal issues and more.

    The slogan, "Made from sugar..." is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

  13. yeah i use to be like you, it got me depressed also but once in a while is alright thats how i do it, but if you do it everyday then it going to make you depressed so just take a hit couple times a month or once a month its up to you. Marijuana not all bad it kills cancers also, so its good to smoke it once in a while.

Actually pot increases anxiety in most people over the long term.  I would say you probably only felt better cause you got out and had fun - that clears anyone's head.  I think smoking once in a while isn't bad - but it does cause more anxiety for most people if smoked every day, and depression.  Maybe once or twice a month, but not more than that.

    PS, your last sentences sound like you are high right now!  Do they have one of those?  I should build one - but then you forget by the next day.  I swear when I was in college my friends and I found the cure for cancer like 10 times but forgot it the next day!
