Marin Cilic destroys Tobias Kamke in third round – German Tennis Championships 2011

Playing against each other, Tobias Kamke went against the Croatian International Marin Cilic for the first time in history in the 3rd round of the International German Tennis Championship in Hamburg, Germany. The match
was played on clay circuit at the largest stadium, the Rothenbaum Tennis Court.
Standing at a mighty 6’6”, Marin Cilic is a wonder boy. The 22 year-old uses his height as a weapon to throw blazers at his opponents and covers the courts with two jumps. The youngest sensation has up till now 5 titles since he
started off in 2005. Ranked at world No.32, Cilic has a highest ranking of world No.9 as per the ATP ratings of last year.
Opposing the massive Croatian was the homeboy Tobias Kamke. Tobias has been satisfactory in his performance recently. However, satisfaction was not enough to win the match against the wonder boy Marin Cilic. The world No.90 was
ripped apart after he got the lead in the first set and lost his way in the Hamburg Open after this.
The match started off with the Croat serving first. Taking the lead 1-0, the Croat fell off in the first set hard as the German went of fire. Levelling the score first and then winning a breakpoint led the home player lead 2-1.
Tobias then increased his lead to 3-1 on his serve.  The Czech did try to get himself back in the game however the lead was too much to catch up on. Tobias won the first set 6-3 and led the match by 1 set to 0.
Coming back up strong Kamke served and took the advantage lead 1-0. The scores went on steadily without any breakpoints until game 16 when Cilic won his first breaker to lead 4-3. Eventually he revenged his beating in the first
set as he won with the same score he lost 6-3 to level the match scores to 1-1.
The third set was played perfectly by the Croat international. Ruining the hopes of the home fans, the young 22 year old gave a severe beating to the German international in the decider. Starting off with serving first, Cilic made
his lead impossible to cut as he won the first three games like a g6. The Croat gave away only 2 games and swiped away the rest to win the set and the match 3-6, 6-3 and 6-2 to sit in the quarter-finals.
Marin Cilic will now play the Russian grizzly Mikhail Youzhny for a spot in the semi-finals.
