just replying to that previous post about MTV trying to show the lives of "real" people, Marin County is not a place where you're going to find "real" people. If anything, like the previous poster wrote, Marin is WEALTHIER than the OC and MORE rich/spoiled/surreal. speaking as someone who was born and raised in Marin and went to private school in Marin and was once part of that whole wealthy, spoiled, Marin kid "scene," the show is probably going to be just like Laguna Beach or Newport Harbor. in fact, Marin County has the highest per capital income of any county in the country and is the wealthiest county in California and one of the most affluent in the US. trust me, there's going to be nothing "real" about the show. just more spoiled, rich teenagers with drug problems and fancy cars.

Its basically going to be about the lives of 7 teens, in a very similar manner to laguna beach and newport harbor.  In fact, Newport Harbor will not return to MTV this fall and this show.. which is tentatively titled "The County" will replace it although it will not premiere in the fall and is set to air beginning January 2009.  This means that filming will take place in the fall and cover the first semester of the lives of these teens at their high school, UNLIKE the seasons of Laguna Beach and Newport Harbor which filmed during the second semester from December to June and then aired the next fall.  

Unlike Newport Harbor and Laguna Beach, The County will attempt to follow the new trend of MTV shows reflecting the lives of "real" people (which began with the Real World: Hollywood) instead of superficial, spoiled, rich, and pretty people (like in Newport Harbor and Laguna Beach).  I doubt this will work because Marin County is a very affluent area in the Bay Area (in fact, most of the residents there make MORE than those in the OC), but I'm glad MTV will be shooting in Northern California in the San Francisco area because I think it is more beautiful.
