Marina Alabau dominates Day 3, Sofia Klepacka takes overall lead at RS:X Youth European Championship
Women’s division of 2011 RS:X Youth European Windsurfing Championship had a superb Day 3 under lighter winds. Spain’s Marina Alabau, who missed Day 2 races because of her illness, came out with a fighting spirit at Burgas and dominated Day 3 with her excellent
sailing. However, in the overall standings of women’s division, Poland’s Sofia Klepacka is on top with 24 points.
The weather conditions in Burgas were tricky on Day 3 as the breeze shifted constantly. Overall, the winds were not so much at surfers’ side and gusted up to 12 knots, which was not ideal for a sound run on Burgas waters. However, despite that, surfers did
put a lot of hard work to produce an impressive result in the end.
Spanish women surfer, Alabau, scored two bullets on Day 3 and proved her dominance on the fleet despite her illness the previous day. She might not be in the medal contender list but she had a brilliant run to make her mark. On the other hand, leader board,
Klepacka secured two second spots to retain her overall lead with 24 points at the end of third day after 11 races.
