Marina Erakovic sacrifices holidays for better future in tennis – Tennis News
World number 67, Marina Erakovic, is not hesitant in changing the lifestyle to improve her game. Every tennis player travels around the world across the globe to participate in the scheduled events and Erakovic is also the victim
of home sickness. The irreplaceable holidays are so wanted towards the end of the year just to spend some time at home with family and friends. However, the 24-year-old Kiwi starlet is planning to sacrifice the golden time for the betterment of her game. She
is not scared to move out of Auckland in the holidays to practice for the new season that begins in January 2013.
Erakovic will take part in the ASB Classic tournament that is contested at her hometown. It will be her second straight participation in the event. However, the three-week training session with her coach Christian Zahalka is scheduled
in Florida where the facilities and environment is better for the player. It is a big decision considering the holidays will be missed by the big step from the Kiwi star is taken in the hunt for huge dividends in the upcoming years.
Erakovic said, “This is different; this is the first time I've done this. I usually do my off-season training here but the tennis is just missing, I can do as much running, or hills and stairs as I want here. But the tennis side
is really lacking. I don't have the players and I don't have my coach.”
She further added, “In the past when I've trained in Florida and done the work - and we work hard over there - it's usually paid off. Even if it doesn't come straight away, I think it will be like putting pennies in a piggy-bank.
It will pay off down the line.”
She will work extremely hard with her coach; has scheduled hefty fitness sessions along with long training sessions that will help her groom into a better player as a whole. The main focus will be the stamina of the player and
her weak areas of the game. She will return to her homeland after the end of the training session and continue to the training in Auckland until the start of the tournament.
