Marine Biology and Scuba?

Does anyone know if you have to be able to scuba dive in order to pursue a career in marine biology? Thanks

  1. hey there contact.....No it all really depends on how involved you are...either way if you become a marine biologist and feel the need to be a certified scuba diver then persue it but it is not part of the job requirement....unless your employer requires it...I did know one Marine Biologist and he was infact a certified scuba diver...(i think it only takes a couple of classes or lessons)

  3. Not really. You can study other things, instead of being down there with the fish.

    Although, I would highly suggest getting your scuba license. Not only is it awesome, it would help you understand more about what you are studying. :]

  4. no, u cld work in a lab or center that wldn't involve actually SCUBA diving, there wld b professionals
