Marine Biology?

What courses would I need if I wanted to become a marine biologist. Just a general idea...I've been taking biology, but that is my only science. I haven't taken chemistry or physics. Would I need them? I'm going into grade 12.

  1. Chemistry and physics are both good.  Chem will be important in helping you understand how bio works (more so later on in your studies), and physics can be applied to ocean currents & tides.  Geology/earth science is useful because you learn about plate tectonics and sometimes fossils.  Also, it NEVER hurts to take more math!

  2. Most university marine biology degrees I've looked at include all the chemisty, physics and geology stuff you need within the first year of courses. Studing these subjects before you go to uni might help you with these courses, or even allow you to get credit towards some of them, but you can easily get by without doing more science now. Most first year science courses at uni are at a year 11/12 level, for people who didn't do science in school.
