Marine Corps Dress Blues

Question

Do you get issued your dress blues at boot camp, or do you have to buy them? I know you get issued your service uniform, but I was wondering about the blues because I've heard some people say they never got them.

At one time the Marine Corps did attempt to issue Dress Blues to recruits. It was a nightmare for Drill Instructors and those who have to tailor the uniform. The Dress Blues are a form fitting uniform and because of the drastic weight loss of recruits it was to time consuming to fit the uniform. Also the cost of the uniform was an important decision to stop issuing them.  The Honor man/Women receive them now. The Marine Corps works on a small budget so those who get issued it will determine what unit they are in. Marine Security Guard"Embassy" Presidents Own etc...

you do now, i graduated july 6th of 2007 and we didn't get them, so i have to buy mine, but now the recruits going in are getting them issued. i believe if you go to boot camp in recruit depot San Diego then you get issued your dress blue trousers, but not the jacket. i know we didn't get either at parris island

You used to get issued just the blue trousers in bootcamp and not the dress blue jacket. Now you don't get issued either one.
