Marine Corps. Guaranteed Flight Position.?

Question

How does this work? You go home after BCT and Ground School if you fail ground school????

Does the guaranteed opening also include guaranteed airplane?

No.  --Not the position.  --Not even the training.  what is guaranteed is a chance to try for the training that might lead to the position.

Highly doubtful you would come home.  You need to read the contract VERY carefully.  Most likely, if you fail you would revert to whatever position the Marine Corp needs (infantry).

Also FYI read the contract that you swear to, not the one the recruiter lets you see.  Seen many people read their contract later to find out they have just enlisted for something entirely different!

Most likely it will read that you have a guaranteed spot in an flight position  school.  (whether pilot, engineer, maintenance etc).

I would highly suggest having someone that has been in the military talk to the recruiter personally with you present. They understand the lingo and the games much better.  

I'm not saying all recruiters are crooked.  Just enough that it is worth the effort to make sure they are straight with you.

The military doesnt guarantee you a "position". Maybe a school but you have to pass it to get the position.

Platoon Leaders Class (Air Contract) provides you the opportunity to go to flight school.  It does not guarantee platform or wings.  Now you can lose that contract at any time for a multitude of reasons.  The primary ones such as: becoming "not physically qualified or NPQ" or flunking out of flight school at which time you will revert to a ground MOS (Military Occupational Specialty).  For more information, contact the local Marine Officer Selection Officer (OSO) to discuss the program.  If you are looking for a more in depth forum discussion about PLC or Naval Aviation go to
