Marine Corps Pilots?

I want to fly the F/A-18 Hornet for the Marine Corps. I'm a freshman in highschool and my grades are not so good right now, 2 D's and some B's and A's. If I get my grades up to almost all A's when I'm a sophmore and junior and senior, will I still have a shot at flying in the Marine Corps?

  1. Your college grades will be more important, but you should still get your high school grades up to make sure you get into the college you want.  If you are a freshman, you are still at least 7 or 8 years away from  the Marines, so you have some time yet.  Extra cirricular activities will also be important, both in HS and college.  Good luck.

  2. Being a pilot in the military carries the rank of Officer, which also requires a college degree (except Army helicopter pilots). Stay in school, go on to earn your degree then talk to your local recruiter.

By the way, if you mess around with drugs you can forget about EVER becoming a pilot.

  3. I talked with an Air Force pilot about what the Air Force looked at for him to become a pilot, and I'm guessing it's about the same for the other services.  He told me they looked at his GPA and not just what he got his degree in.  The better your GPA the better your chances of going to flight school.  They also want some one who has participated in sports.  Flying fighters is very demanding physically and you need to be in the best physical shape.
