Question:

Marine Corps tattoo policy? I have a tattoo on my back that pokes up on to my neck slightly.

I have a tattoo of a Sun on the back of my neck. I had it done when I was 22. I got it because I had just started a new life with my wife after a pretty tough upbringing. It is not gang related and it is just a simple sun. It would not be visible in uniform, and only partially visible when wearing a T-shirt. It starts between my shoulder blades and ends about 1 inch above a typical T-shirts collar. Am I simply just disqualified or can I obtain a waiver for this sort of thing?

@dded ; I found the post so here is the info.

Effective 1 April 2007, paragraph 1004.1c of MCO P1020.34G, Marine Corps uniform regulations, is canceled and replaced with the following paragraph. "... Marines are prohibited from:

Tattoos or brands on the head and neck. Sleeve tattoos are likewise prohibited. A sleeve tattoo is a very large tattoo, or a collection of smaller tattoos, that covers or almost covers a person’s entire arm or leg. Half-sleeve or quarter-sleeve tattoos that are visible to the eye when wearing standard PT gear (t-shirt and shorts) are likewise prohibited. A half-sleeve or quarter-sleeve tattoo is defined as a very large tattoo, or a collection of smaller tattoos that covers, or almost covers, the entire portion of an arm or leg above or below the elbow or knee. Tattoos or brands that are prejudicial to good order, discipline and morale, or are of a nature to bring discredit upon the Marine Corps are also prohibited. Prejudicial to good order, discipline and morale, or are of a nature to bring discredit upon the Marine corps may include, but are not limited to, any tattoo that is sexist, racist, vulgar, anti-American, anti-social, gang related, or extremist group or organization related."

    This should answer your question.

ADDED : Lazers hurt like h**l and leave a bad scar that looks like the TAT.

  2. lasers will take your tattoo off!

  3. If it touches the neck it will be fine..You can not have a tattoo covering an entire body part and they do not want a solid tattoo in the neck..

What you have is a tattoo which goes into the neck and this should not make a difference.

  4. You'll be fine but I suggest watching the movie Beyond Treason first...It's free on google videos...Enjoy all the health problems you will have the rest of your life...
