Marine Live Rock Question?

Hi, today we are going to collect 5kg of live rock from this guys house. It will probably be in the car for about 3-4 hours because we are picking it up on the way to a party. How do you think I should store it during this time to make sure it stays alive?

you should put it in wet news paper thets how people ship it

A food safe container would be fine and place in enough salt water to cover the rock and if you airate the water it will be fine for at least a day as long as good water and temp. A small air pump would be fine.I would on the other hand take it straight home asap without a doubt.

hi i am a fish expert.  3-4 hours would just be ok, all the bacteria dies otherwise and turns bad, so just be quick as you can

go to home depo and buy a 5gal bucket and lid. cost mabye 7$. go get your rocks and get soem water and put just enough water to keep it wet. put on a lid you are fine. however hte problem is hte party. the live rock is alive. it needs air. in the bucket it will suffocate. buy it on the way home from the party or do it another day. no matter what you do the liverock will be geratly harmed if you leave it in the car for so long.

in wet newspaper it will be fine.

there is always some die off, but chances are that it will be fine for 3-4 hours.
