I was wondering if anybody had information regarding Military Police or MP's in the Marines. For example what the job would be like. Any experiences, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Garrison MP's are the law enforcement officers on military bases.  Field MP's are those that are deployed... more similar to infantry..  I believe Field MP's have had a pretty important hand in some of the trianing for the Iraqi security forces.

  2. There are a number of Enlisted MOS opprotunities in the Marines.  When not in a combat area, MP's on post are just like any other police force.  However they normally don't face the degree of major crimes that their civilian counter parts do.

Below are the Marine Corps Enlisted Military Occupation Specialties which are organized under this occupational field:

    5811 -- Military Police

    5812 --Working Dog Handler

    5813 --Accident Investigator

    5814 --Physical Security Specialist

5816 --Special Reaction Team (3RT) Member

    5819 --Military Police Investigator (MPI)

    5821 --Criminal Investigator CID Agent

    5822 --Forensic Psycho-physiologist (Polygraph Examiner)

    5831 --Correctional Specialist

  3. I know that there are a million candences that totally rag on MPs :) My experience from Army ROTC.

  4. Aight, there are 2 types of MPs, Field MPs (almost Infantry) and Garrison MPs (Cops...b*****s). One does pretty much security in a somewhat hostile area...shows a presence, the other acts like a******s and pulls u over when ur speed, talking on ur cellphone and other g*y ****. There ur straight answer, if u wanna know more just ask.

  5. marines die easy. haven't you ever played halo? be a spartan instead.
