is it true they have 2 yr enlistment options?

  1. Minimum for the Marine Corps is three years for active duty.  All services had a two year contract but was done away with in the mid to late 1970's if memory serves me correctly.  The Army was discussing going back to a two year contract but I do not know if they ever did or not.


  2. All military contracts are actually 8 years...

    In the Marines you'll sign either a 4x4 or a 6x2

    A 4x4 means that you serve 4 years active duty and 4 years inactive reserves (IRR)

    A 6x2 is 4 years active duty or reserves and 2 years IRR

  3. I never seen or heard of a two year enlistment..Maybe long ago but not today..
