  1. My boyfriend's original MOS was as a financial advisor (aka accounting). He loves his job and the only reason he went to Iraq was because he volunteerd for a tour. He also loves how easy it will be to transition into a civilian career when he's done his 20 yrs in the Marines.

  2. my answer is;

    Accounting is payroll, aka Boring unles you like the desk.

    Supply is Always the way to go because You know whats coming in. If I had it to do over again Supply/Logistics is the way too go for the Fun of the Military, Any Branch.

  3. Supply will hook up Marines, especially when they don't keep good records or are junior Marines.  I go in and request gear that I already have.  I like spares, but unfortunately, they don't allow you to have extra packs , IBLEs, or its components.  But I don't like having my gear get destroyed while out in the field, ain't no supply where I go!  It's nice to have backup gear.

    Unofficially there is no "accounting" in the Marines, there is  Finance (that deals somewhat with accounting) or Administration.  The Navy pays the Marines, which in turn sends your paycheck to Kansas City Finace HQ, then to the Marines bank account.  Admininstration will be those that hook you up, especially on your travel voucher!  I know, I did it!

    I was an Admin Clerk for my first couple years before I fell ill with boredom.  I took care of Marines' travel vouchers when they were "New Joins", newbies to the unit - any rank!  As long they kept receipts, if not, we had them fill out a form saying they had one and 'lost' it.  That took care of many issues, if you know what I mean!  Plus, you get travel time, depending on the distant from one base to the other.  You rate Per Diem - except the hotels you stay in or where you eat.  Only Mileage and the days you traveled.  However, you get reimbursed for your tickets that brought you to duty, but you rate nothing on your way home if that was enroute.  Like I said, boring...

    There are two types of Marines that you NEVER p**s off, the Sergeant Major or Admin Marines.  You p**s of a pencil pusher, you'll have payment problems, getting extra PT for 'failing' it!  You name it, Admin can get really creative!

    Go Infantry, they'll liven you up!  I sure did, Took to the accessive pipeline to become Recon oorah!  However, we only went to Supply very seldom.  More than half of my gear is what I purchased, mostly from "Brigade Quartermaster".  Since these MOLLE packs became an procurement, phasing out our loved-ALICE pack.  I took it in my own hands to get my ALICE and many others.  That is great being in Recon, you get to come up with your own system of equipment, but it has to be in compliance from the Company Commander.
