Retired Brazilian International Marinho Peres has claimed that Barcelona will eventually succeed in bringing Neymar to the Nou Camp.
The former Brazilian star expects Neymar to be playing for the current Spanish Champions as he expects the Santos star to be a successful signing for the Catalans.
The Santos forward has been the focus of a great deal of attention as he is considered to be one of the most talented youngsters in football at the moment.
Prior to the start of the season, Neymar attracted a lot of interest from several clubs across Europe.
The summer transfer window saw Neymar become the centre of attention. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona were all keen on signing the young striker.
Amongst these European Giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona were considered as top contenders for Neymar's signature.
La Blaugrana were so heavily linked with Neymar that they were rumoured to have signed a ‘first-refusal’ clause with Santos. However, the reports were denied by both, Barcelona and Santos.
To put an end to all speculations, the Brazilian star signed a new contract with Santos. However, Marinho Peres has argued that Neymar will ultimately leave Santos to join Barcelona.
While talking to COM Radio, the 64-year-old is reported to have said:
"I am friends with Santos' officials; I can say that Neymar's transfer to Barcelona is at an advanced stage. Sooner or later, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Neymar-c27639 will play at Barca. He has a tremendous talent and he will be a big hit at the Camp Nou. He will need two, three, four months
to learn how to play like they do in Europe."
However, he added that Santos are in great need of a player like the Brazilian youngster. He further stated that players like Neymar can help football in Brazil.
"http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 needs Neymar to stay. This is something that the country itself asks, because there are no players in the Brazil national team who play in the country. This is why Santos have made an effort for Neymar to play [at the club] until 2014, until the
World Cup," he stated.
Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, has made statements that hint to the signing of Neymar in the coming years.
