The apologetic striker pleads that the dismissal against Arsenal was not due to the player’s folly; insists he wants to be part of the Azzurri ahead of the Euro 2012.

The striker expressed his apology to the club, and stated that his heart goes out for the disappointment caused to the club and the coach. He insisted that he admires Roberto Mancini, and never intended to hurt his expectations.
The Sky Blues aggressor went on to say that he hopes to avoid the wrath of Cesare Prandelli’s code of ethics, and insisted that he does not want to miss out on the Italian squad once again.

“I am very attached to the national team, but I committed two fouls in the course of action, not by reaction. I hope to be there at the Italy training camp in April. Let’s wait for the final verdict of the ban.”
Prandelli has released a statement exonerating the striker for the recent red-card, but stated that the striker’s inclusion in the Azzurri squad is still under consideration. Moreover, Roberto Mancini has also suggested that the
