Mario Balotelli blames his fever for inability to help Manchester City beat Napoli
Manchester City went on to lose out to Napoli in the Champions League last night, as they saw their hopes of progressing from the Champions League group stages fall to the ground.
During the game, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 was spotted throwing up on the pitch, as he looked to be in some pain during the game.
However, despite that fact, the striker went on to score the only goal for City, while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955 went on to find the back of the net on two occasions, which resulted in Napoli beating the Premier League side by two goals to one.
Balotelli has now gone on to reveal that he could have easily gone on to score a number of other goals in the game, had it not been for his illness. At the same time, the forward feels partially disappointed for not being able to put in a performance which would have helped his side sail to victory.
When talking about the game and his health, the striker is quoted to have said: "If I had scored a couple more then it would have been better, but this is football"
"At the interval I went sick because I have been ill for two days. I have a fever, but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 knew this."
City now desperately need to beat Bayern Munich in their last game on the Champions League group stages, while they will be hoping for Villarreal to go on and cause a major upset against Napoli. Should neither of those events take place, then City could very well find themselves in the Europa league, as their progress in the tournament would be halted.
However, despite that fact, Balotelli doesn’t seem to be feeling the pressure at the moment, as he believes City still pose a massive threat in the Champions League and can qualify to the next stage of the tournament.
A very hopeful Balotelli went on to end by stating: "Qualification? We lost to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 but we could have won, you never know what will happen. I am hopeful though"
It is now a wait to see just what happens to City at the end of the group stage games next week.
