Mario Balotelli signs for Manchester City & Bellamy on his way out
One of the most talked about transfer sagas apart from Cesc Fabregas has been the move of Mario Balotelli from Inter Milan to Manchester City. The Italian striker has flown to Manchester for a medical following an agreement between the 2 clubs.
City Manager, Roberto Mancini while talking to media said that, the club is on the verge of securing the services of Balotelli. Mancini said that the 20 year old front man is on his way for a medical and the deal will be completed soon. Another one of the ongoing transfer sagas is that of James Milner; he is also expected to complete his move to City, but the move is believed to be halted for now and he will complete his move after the first week of the Premier League season. Mancini, while commenting on Milner, said that there are still some things to be worked out regarding him, and the club is making sure that all parties involved are kept happy.
The Premier League officials have introduced a new rule this season. It states that every team will have to submit a list of 25 players that are over the age of 21 and Mancini said that Craig Bellamy will not be included in the 25 man list. So that pretty much does end the Wales player’s time at the City of Manchester Stadium. The Italian manager said that he has to submit a list of 25 men and the ones that are not included are free to consider their options. When asked about Bellamy he said that Craig has not been included so he is free to look for other teams.
Balotelli’s Italy and Inter team mate Marco Materazzi said that he is happy for Mario, but said that the team will be weakened by his exit. He said that he hopes Mario will fit in well at Manchester but added that it will be a tough task for him to adjust their. Marco said that he has high hopes from the Italian and wishes him all the luck.
The deal is a swap, one that will see, Stephen Ireland making his way into Inter Milan. Although there has been a delay in the deal, because Ireland is asking a compensation of 2 million pounds for the swap deal, Mancini said that it will not be a problem.
Mancini said that it is important for a manager to consider the consent of all players involved especially in a swap deal. The former Inter Milan manager said that the transfer has been dragged for way too long but he is sure that it will be put to an end soon.
The deal will see a new start for Balotelli who has long been believed to be one of the most talented, but misunderstood strikers in Italy. Meanwhile it also signals the end of the road for Bellamy at City.
The troublesome Welshman claimed that his manager Mancini had stopped talking to him, and the statement is believed to have cost him a fine amounting to his 2 weeks wage. Before that there were only speculations but this new development has all but sealed his fate. Mancini said that he will only choose players that he thinks are committed to the cause of the club, and will benefit the team throughout the season. The manager said the Bellamy is a quality striker but he just is not the right man for Manchester City.
