Mario Balotelli’s award inflates his ego
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 has won the Golden Boy award, earning himself the title of the best young player in Europe. The award is organized by Italian newspaper Tuttosport and voted for by journalists across the continent. Balotelli is the latest recipient of the
prestigious prize, edging out Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshire. When asked what he thought about Wilshire, the Manchester City striker said, “What's his name? Wil...? No, I just don't know him, but the next time I play against Arsenal I'll try to be careful.
Maybe I could show him the Golden Boy trophy and remind him that I won.”
The cocky striker went on to declare that he was better than the previous winners of the Golden Boy award, deeming only http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736, Cesc Fabregas and Rafael Van der Vaart.
Balotelli added that he was delighted to win the award, but saw it as a stepping stone to a much greater honour. Balotelli said, “My goal is, in the near future, to turn this award into the Ballon d'Or, without any age limits.”
Balotelli’s petulant attitude has led the young striker into trouble in the past. In his final days at Inter Milan, Balotelli fell out of favour with then-coach Jose Mourinho due to disciplinary problems. His is known to favour AC Milan, causing many problems
during his time with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567. Following a lackluster season with the Italian club, Balotelli moved to Manchester City in the summer of 2010 for a fee of 24 million pounds. However, his childish reaction at being substituted in a recent Premier League match proves
that he has yet to overcome his disciplinary issues.
There is no doubting the young striker’s talent though. Balotelli’s Golden Boy award means he is considered the best young player in Europe today. However, the prize will fuel an already inflated ego. The striker recently stated, “I am delighted to receive
the award, but who else would have won if not me? Two years ago I finished sixth and then fourth in 2009. Now it's my turn, no?”
